U-18 Zim National Team CAMP

U-18ジンバブエ代表のキャンプ終了。

Training Camp for U-18 Zimbabwe National Team finished.

ナショナルチームでも使うグローブは日本からご支援頂いたボロボロのもの。もちろん数が足りないのでシェア。靴もボロボロで穴開き。バットはほぼグリップテープがなくて滑る。グラウンドは石がたくさんあり、スライディングは禁物。何故か生えてる草にはトゲトゲがあり、罰ゲーム並。

Even the national team players uses tattered gloves which was donated from Japan. Needless to say, they share those gloves because of there is not enough. Further on, their shoes are also broken. The bats do not have rubber grip and it makes slippy to use. To make matters worse, we can find a lot of rocks and thorny plants as if we are getting some penalty.

ジンバブエでは野球用品を買うことはほぼ不可能。他にもサッカーやバスケなどのメジャーなスポーツがある中、マイナーで、費用のかかる野球を選んでくれただけで凄い嬉しい。

Here in Zimbabwe, it`s impossible to get a equipment of baseball. Despite that there are some common sports like soccer or basketball, I`m so happy that they choose baseball which known as minor sport as there favorite. 

インフレーションの進行が止まらない今、物価の高騰はひどい。水も電気もなく、生活することすらままならない子どもたちが多くいる中、少しでも野球を通して生きがいを感じて、夢を持ってくれたら幸いです…

By the way, Inflation is changing prices so quickly in Zimbabwe that the price we see on a store’s window might change by the time you try to pay. Moreover, we are facing the shortage of water and electricity now which makes our living worse. Under these circumstances, I am honored if I could afford them the opportunity to find the passion and goals in their life.

一方、実力の方は…

On the other hand...What about their skills of baseball? 

まだ対外試合で勝つのは難しいとは思うけど、ジンバブエ人のポテンシャルは感じさせられた3日間。

そこをどうにかして引き出させてあげれたら、日本でも活躍できる選手が出てくるのかな？！

It seems to be difficult for them to win against other team but I really believe that they have a potential to improve their skills and beat.

I will try my best to exploit their ability and make some professional players from here.

3月末からは南アフリカのケープタウンで国際大会…

そしてバスで選手と一緒に27時間移動…日本からジンバブエより長い…...

The national competition will be held in Cape Town, South Africa on the end of the March.

The distance from here to the baseball field will be about 27 hours. It shows that the journey will be longer than from Japan to Zimbabwe........

いろんな面でこれからの道は遠く険しくなるだろう。

I can easily imagine that I still have a long way to go and a lot to work on...
