四国アイランドリーグトライアウト報告

　私は、2005年10月19日大阪国際空港に到着し、伊藤さんの出迎えを受けました。その後１時間ほど移動した後、尼崎産業高校のク゛ラント゛で、長旅の後の軽いトレーニングを行いました。木製バットを買いに行った後、４日間正岡さんのお宅に滞在しました。

　翌20日には、午後から尼崎北高校で練習をしました。午前中は生徒たちは試験があったようです。彼らと一緒に行った練習は素晴らしく、わたしはチームの一員になった気がしました。ウォームアップの後、３０分の守備練習、続いて１５分のバッティング練習をし、ダウンをして午後４時頃に終了しました。

　翌21日には、午後２時から関西学院高等部の野球部部員たちと練習をしました。去年私がジンバブエのナショナルチームで来日した時に一緒に練習をした部員たちと再会できてうれしかったです。４５分間のバッティング練習、３０分の守備練習の後、部員たちの助けを借りて、４０分ほどマシーンで打ち込みました。彼らのおかげで、自分のホームチームで練習しているように練習できたことを感謝しています。彼らと話をしたり、ジンバブエに帰ったら私のチームでも活用できそうな野球の知識を学べたのは素晴らしかったです。また、「トライアウトで頑張れよ」と励ましてもらいうれしかったです。

　翌22日は午後、関西学院大学の野球部で練習をしました。去年会った選手や新しい選手たちと顔を合わすことが出来てうれしかったです。５０分のバッティング練習は、大変役に立ち、自信もつき、集中して全力でフルスイング出来ました。その後、３０分ほど守備練習をしましたが、ジンバブエのフィールディングとは少し違う日本流のフィールディングを楽しみました。２０分の走塁練習の後、ダウンをし、トライアウトに行く前の最後の練習を終わりました。

　23日に伊藤さんと一緒に四国へ移動しました。四国では伊藤さんの友人が、トライアウトの会場まで車で連れて行ってくれました。私は美しい球場をみてワクワクし、トライアウトに対する自信もいっぱいでした。翌24日がトライアウトの初日で、午前１０時に始まりました。私たちはAとBの２つのグループに分けられ、私はBグループでした。最初はランニングで５０メートル走でした。私は、６秒３１で走りました。続いて遠投です。９０メーター以上投げることが条件でしたが、私は９４メーター投げました。そして守備のテストがあって初日が終了しました。２日目の25日は、１０時からバッティングテストが始まりました。一人１０１０球打った後、何人かの選手が残され、球の速い投手相手にバッティングテストが繰り返されました。

　バッティングテストの後、四国アイランドリーグの石毛代表が私の他４名の選手を選び、もう一度守備のテストを受けるよう言いました。そして私たちの様子を見ながらメモを取っていました。その後、トライアウトの終了が告げられ、次の日のトライアウトは中止になりました。トライアウトの結果は、１１月の終わりに発表されると聞いた後、その日のうちに尼崎に戻りました。日本には11月３日まで滞在し、ジンバブエには４日に帰国しました。

　私は、私の夢を実現し、私を支え信頼し、日本でトライアウトを受けることを可能にしてくださった次の方々に心からの感謝を申し上げます。

　私は、青年海外協力隊員の支援にも心から感謝しています。皆さんの支援がなければ、今回の来日は不可能だったでしょう。また、伊藤さんや正岡さんのご家族にも感謝しています。私を家に泊めて、家族の一員のように接してくださいました。私は自分の家にいるような気持ちになりました。また根岸さんには、貴重な時間を割いていただいて、トライアウトの時に通訳をしてくださいました。ありがとうございました。最後に、ジンバブエにいる私の家族、友人そして何よりもナショナルチームやブラワヨで一緒にプレーしているチームメイトに感謝したいと思います。彼らがいなければ、私が野球でここまで到達することは出来なかったでしょうし、日本にやって来る機会もなかったでしょう。

I arrived on the 19th of October 2005 at Osaka International Airport .MR MASURO ITO was waiting for me, after travelling for an hour we arrived at AMAGASAKI INDUSTRY　HIGH SCHOOL where I had just a light training after a long journey. After we went shopping for wooden bat I spent four nights at MR MASAOKA house.

The next day 20th of October I had training session with AMAGASAKI NORTHEN HIGH SCHOOL again in the afternoon because in the morning they had examinations and it was great training with them as I did with them their drills, they made me feel like I was part of their team. After warming up we did some fielding practice for 30 minutes after that we did some batting practice for 15 minutes after that we cooled down we finish training at around four O’clock. On the 21st of October at 2pm I had another training session with another high school KWANSEI GAKUIN HIGH SCHOOL and it was great to see them again as we had played them last year when came as national team of ZIMBABWE. We first did bating practice for 45 minutes, after we finish we did fielding for 30 minutes. After that we cooled down but after that I kept on bating using the pitching machine for the next 40 minutes with help from KWANSEI players I thank them for that and for making feel like I was home with them. It was nice to talk to them and learn some thing from them about baseball that I could use in own game for me to improve and I thank them for encouraging me to go and do my best at the trials. 

Next day on the 22nd of October I had a training session with KWANSEI GAKUIN UNIVERSITY in the afternoon, it nice to meet some of the new players and see again the old players we played last year. We had batting practice first for 50 minutes, the practice help me a lot because it gave confidence go out there and concentrate on my batting and go out there and swing really hard and give a 150 percent effort. Then after that we did some fielding practice I really enjoyed myself and I was impressed with my fielding and especially doing JAPANESE style of fielding which is different from ZIMBABWEAN style of fielding. After 30 minutes of fielding, we did practice base running for next 20 minutes and after that we cooled down and that was my third and last practice before going to SHIKOKU ISLAND for the trials.

On the 23rd of October MR ITO and I we left for SHIKOKU ISLAND, when we arrived MR ITO friend drove us to see where I was going to have the trials. I was excited and very confident to have the trials now after seeing the baseball field and it was so beautiful. The next day the 24th was the first day for trials, we started at 10 O’clock. They divided us into to two groups A and B I was in the second group. We first did running trials 50 meters I ran in 6,31seconds and after that we did throwing trials. They wanted us to throw over 90 meters and I threw 94 meters and we did fielding trials after that and that was I did on the first day. On the second day, the 25th we started at 10 O’clock and we did batting trials, hitting 10 times. After that they drop some players and after that we did some batting against fast good pitchers.

After we finish batting president of the SHIKOKU ISLAND BASEBALL LEAGUE had me and four other players do fielding again as watched us writing notes down and after that they told us that the trials we finish and that they canceled the day of trials. They told us that the results would be out at the end of November 2005 and we left SHIKOKU ISLAND that same night for AMAGASAKI and I was in JAPAN until the 3rd of November 2005 and I arrived in ZIMBABWE on the 4thof November 2005.

I also would like to thank MR ITO’S family and MR MASAOKA’S family for letting stay in their homes and be part of their families and feel like I was at home thank you very much. I also like to thank MR NEGISHI for sacrificing his time to come and see me and help me with the trials and in translating for me. Lastly I would like to thank my family, friends but mostly all players in the national team and players who I play with in BULAWAYO without them I would have not made it this far playing baseball and have this chance to go for these trials in JAPAN.
